FRONT COVERS

Location

Magazine 1 

For my first magazine, the photographs will be taken at Tynemouth Priory. The cover image and the contents page image will both be taken at this location. I have chosen this location as it is a respected, old location. By my model posing here, it will symbolise that he should also be respected. The location has been through a lot and so has my model. Due to the location's history, it is now in ruins and this will symbolise that my model feels the same due to the discriminatory actions in which people have shown towards him. It is a natural location and this connotates that my model is also natural and his sexuality is a natural thing.

Magazine 2

For my second magazine, the photographs will be taken at a subway/under-passing. I have chosen this location as my model is showing that she doesn't have a lot of wealth or pleasure in life due to the discrimination in which she has had to ensure due to being Asian and living in Britain. Due to the background being plain, this will allow for a big focus to be on my model so that her message can come across easily. Due to the background just being a subway/under-passing, this also allows for it to be anywhere- it is not a specific location which therefore shows that the model is representing all of the population who feel discriminated against in Britain.

Models

Magazine 1

For my first magazine, my model will be my best friend, Elliot, who will be posing as a gay teenager. I have chosen my friend Elliot to play this role as he has the right ethics, style and appearance that I have in mind for this character. I have chosen the social group of the LGBT community to represent as I believe that there are still issues surrounding the acceptance of this community and I want to show that everyone should be accepted no matter what sexuality you have.

Magazine 2 

For my second magazine, my model will be my sister, Josie, who will be posing as teenager who has migrated from Asia. I have chosen Josie to play this role as she has Asian heritage so will be able to have the right style for this role. I have chosen to represent ethnicity in my magazine as there are still issues in Britain today where people from other ethnicity are faced with discrimination and I want to show that this is not alright and that people should be accepted no matter what ethnicity they are.

Mise-en-scene

Magazine 1 

For my first magazine, I will have my model wearing black jeans, a white top and a blue denim jacket with blue sunglasses. His outfit will be trendy and therefore able to attract the young target audience. The lighting will be bright as I will shoot the images in the middle of summer so that the model can be seen clearly. The camera angle will be a long shot of the model which symbolises his distance from society.

Magazine 2

For my second magazine, I will have my model wearing a traditional Hindu head scarf so that readers can clearly see that she is from another ethnicity. She will be trying to cover her face with the scarf which symbolises that she believes that she has to hide her true identity to fit in with British culture.  The lighting will be bright so that the model can be seen clearly. The camera angle will be a close up so that the readers can see the pain that the model has.

Location

Magazine 1

For my first magazine, I will feature two images of my model in the same location for there to be consistency throughout the images. I will feature another image for a separate story about Covid-19. This image will be taken in a location which there is a plain background to allow the model in the photo to be the main focus. 

Magazine 2

For my second magazine, I will feature two images of my model in the same location for there to be consistency throughout the images. I will feature another image for a separate story about plastic/ environment. This image will be taken outside at a field to allow for the field to be the background of the image which makes the image relevant to an environmental story.

Models

Magazine 1

For my first magazine, the model I have used on the front page will also feature in two other images. I will then have my mother pose in a mask to reflect a Corona virus story. I have chosen my mother to be the model in this image for the story about Coronavirus as the pandemic has effected every member of society therefore my mother is reflecting a person in society. 

Magazine 2

For my second magazine, the model I have used on the front page will also feature in two other images. I will then take an image of a plastic bottle to reflect a story on plastic. I decided not to have a model included in this image as I want the reader's attention to be on the plastic bottle and the effect that plastic is having on the environment. 

Mise-en-scene

Magazine 1

For my first magazine, I will have an image of my model in the same location as the front page image but posing differently. The model will be wearing the same clothing and will be hugging the flag to reflect the pride he has of being part of the LGBTQ+ community. I will then shoot another image of a close up of the flag to represent the power that it has as it is a symbol of the LGBTQ+ community. The images will be accompanied by a short piece of information about the model and some facts and figures. 

 I will then take an image featuring a model in a mask for a story about Coronavirus. The image will be a close up of the model to show that they are wearing a mask due to government advice. The image will be accompanied by text about the Coronavirus pandemic. 

I will also feature a list of other stories that are going to be included in the magazine along with their page numbers. I will also feature the handles to the magazine's social media accounts along with the URL of the website.  

Magazine 2

For my second magazine, I will have two images of my model in the same location as the front page image but posing differently. the model will be wearing the same clothing to allow for consistency between the images. The images will accompanied by a short piece of information about the model and some facts and figures. 

I will then take an image of a plastic bottle being held in a field. This image will have accompanying text about the effect of plastic on the environment. The lighting will be bright to ensure that the image is  vibrant and eye-catching. 

I will also feature a list of other stories that are going to be included in the magazine along with their page numbers. I will also feature the handles to the magazine's social media accounts along with URL of the website.
