Features of the current affairs magazine genre: 
  • Use lots of text.
  • Magazines of this genre are normally published regularly to keep up with events happening.
  • Feature real stories.
  • Can have creative front covers.
  • Don't feature celebrity gossip stories. 
  • Most look at current affairs in a sophisticated serious way but some spread some light 
  • Use sophisticated images.
  • Features current political, economic and social information that is effecting the world. 
  • Aimed at culturally aware people. 
EXAMPLE: A copy of the current affairs magazine 'Delayed Gratification' in 2018 featured a story about the American presidential election between Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump. The magazine analysed what had happened so far and produced charts on the chances of each candidate winning. The magazine appeared professional and informative as well as being visually appealing through its use of images.
